These plants require bright but indirect sunlight and enjoy areas with dappled shade.
Alocasia's LOVE water, they enjoy staying moist/damp but never waterlogged. Ceramic pots hold in moisture better than terracotta ones so your plant will enjoy being in the former better due to the great water retention. When the colder weather sets in, there can be less need to keep the soil damp - allow the top layer to dry out before rewatering.
Humidity is key for Alocasias. Misting is a great way to provide extra moisture, however, grouping humidity loving plants together also helps promote humidity in the air. Have a tray of pebbles with water near plants that need extra air moisture, humidity will increase as the water evaporates.
Average indoor temperatures of 13-27°C are best for the Alocasia Dragon Scale. Never let the temperature drop below 16
°C for long periods of time.
During spring and summer, feed once a month with a general houseplant food. No feeding is necessary during the winter when plant growth naturally slows.
An Alocasia is considered toxic to humans and pets if ingested.
This Alocasia can head into dormancy if temperatures drop too low for a long period of time. This will most likely lead to your plant dying so keep it within its ideal temperature range. These plants are quick to tell you when they aren't happy so keep an eye on any changes in their leaves and 'perkiness'.
